4 Tips To A Warmer Home

Staying warm during the winter is easy to do when you know how to keep the heat in your home. There are places in your home that you might be losing your heat and it can cause your power bills to increase and your home to stay too cool. These four tips can help you keep your home warm and cozy no matter how low the thermometer dips outside. Be sure to put these tips into play in your home to insure your warm and cozy.

 

Use Drapes
When you have curtains or heavy drapes over your windows you will notice a substantial difference in the home. It helps to hold the heat in when you keep them closed and you can relax knowing the heat is not leaking out. These curtains and drapes can really make a difference in the rooms that have larger windows and openings. If the temperatures get bitterly cold in your are be sure you have curtains in your home to help hold in the heat.

 

Good Insulation
You want to make sure you insulation in your attic is of a good quality. Heat rises and when you do not have insulation there to keep it in your home, out it goes. When a home is built the insulation may not be the best quality in the attic. IF you notice your home is cooler than it should be then your insulation may be to blame. Be sure to have it checked and updated when needed.

 

Maintain Your Heating Unit

Regular maintenance is critical to keeping your home warm in the winter. You need to have it routinely cleaned and checked so that you can relax knowing it’s working properly. By taking care of your unit you will also extend the life of the unit and can get the most out of your heating unit each year.

 

Seal The Home
Do a routine check for leaks and drafts around your windows, doors and in the attic. Sealing these drafts up will help you keep the heat in your home instead of it leaking out. Homes can settle after several years and it can open up new leaks around your windows and doors. Seal those up with weatherstripping or caulk and keep the heat in your home.

These are just a few ways you can keep the heat in your home and have a warmer home this winter. Be sure to check all of these items to insure you are ready no matter what cold temperatures come your way!
